The Dream Team of Marine & Fisheries Scientists

It all starts with the science……

Over long coffee-fuelled days, Australia’s foremost marine and fisheries scientists, a team of independent and concerned individuals; came together to advocate for improvement in fisheries. They created a new benchmark for sustainability assessments, the Sustainable Australian Seafood Assessment Criteria, regarded by many as the industry best practice and gold standard. To support the application of the Criteria, the scientists recently established the not-for-profit company, Sustainable Australian Seafood Assessment Limited (SASAL).

The Sustainable Australian Seafood Assessment Limited (SASAL) and Happy Fish share the common vision and commitment to facilitate unprecedented access for small-scale fishers to high-quality sustainability assessments that are targeted, technically robust and affordable.
